Fresh Patch Applauds New App for Dog Lovers

A free app was launched for dog-loving iPhone and Android users in the Los Angeles area. The app is called Where My Dogs At, offered by BetterPet Inc. Plans are under way to make the app available in other major U.S. cities. This is a great concept because it is focused on local communities of dog lovers, says Andrew Feld, owner of Fresh Patch, a Los-Angeles and Miami-based company that delivers real-grass, fully disposable dog potties nationally.

The app is essentially a location-based social network for dog lovers. It will help local dog owners find dog-friendly locations in Los Angeles and let them connect with each other socially. According to Feld, the value of coalescing individuals within like-minded online communities has already been proven by Foursquare and Reddit.

Feld believes that the new app will help to further dog-related small businesses at the local level. As a small business owner, I know how hard it is to get the word out about dog products such as Fresh Patch. Traditional advertising is extremely expensive, but social media can help spread the word about the offerings of good companies. Social media is one of the ways that small businesses can compete with huge companies.

I lived in Los Angeles for almost a decade working in the entertainment industry, says Feld. People in L.A. feel passionately about their dogs and many take them wherever they go. I believe dog owners will welcome this new app because it will introduce them to dog friendly places that they might otherwise be unaware of.”

Only businesses that have been in business at least two years, have at least four employees, and have revenues between $ 150,000 and $ 4 million annually are eligible for the program. Creelman, Inc. met the criteria, so Lynn Creelman decided to apply.
